Vivo V80 Launched Globally with Fresh Design, 144Hz AMOLED and Bigger Battery

Vivo has launched the V80 globally with a refreshed glass design, a 144Hz AMOLED display and a 7,200mAh battery. See specs, cameras and how it compares to the V70.
Vivo has started rolling out the V80 beyond India, naming Southeast Asia and the Middle East among the first regions. The phone debuted in India on October 6. The global version keeps the main upgrades over last year's V70: a refreshed body, a 144Hz AMOLED display and a bigger 7,200mAh battery. Vivo says pricing and specifications will vary by market.
Design: a one-piece glass back and a slimmer body
Vivo calls the V80's back panel "one-piece cold-carved glass". The back and the camera surround are cut from a single piece of glass, which the company says is stronger than conventional hot-bent glass. The front glass was developed with SCHOTT, and the phone carries SGS drop-resistance certification.
The body is about 7.69mm thick, and protection goes up to IP68 and IP69. That covers high-pressure water jets as well as dust and immersion.
Global buyers get four colours: Starwish Purple, Wander Green, Sunrise Anthem and Vast Gray. India's lineup is Horizon Blue, Stellar Black and Sunrise Anthem.
Display: 144Hz on a 1.5K AMOLED panel
The V80 has a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen (2750 x 1260) that refreshes at up to 144Hz and reaches 5,000 nits local peak brightness. That is a step up from the V70's 120Hz panel. Vivo notes that 144Hz is available only in supported apps, so not everything you do will run at the top rate.
Performance and storage
Inside is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, the same chip as the V70, with 8GB of RAM (plus up to 16GB of extended RAM) and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage.
One trade-off to know about: Android Headlines reports that the V80 moves to older LPDDR4X memory and UFS 3.1 storage, where its predecessor used LPDDR5X and UFS 4.1, and links the change to component prices. Everyday use shouldn't suffer much, but it is a step back on paper.
Battery: 7,200mAh with 90W charging
The battery is the biggest hardware change. The V80 packs 7,200mAh (7,015mAh rated), up from 6,500mAh on the V70. Charging stays at 90W, which Vivo says takes the phone to 50% in 30 minutes.
Cameras: a real 3x telephoto

The V80 is part of Vivo's camera-focused V series, and it has three rear cameras tuned with ZEISS:
- Main: 50MP Sony LYTIA 700V sensor with OIS
- Telephoto: 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS and 3x optical zoom, plus up to 10x digital
- Ultra-wide: 8MP
- Front: 50MP with autofocus
Both the front and rear cameras can shoot 4K video at 60fps. Portrait fans get ZEISS 100mm and 85mm modes, plus a CCD Flash Portrait mode for night shots, and Vivo adds AI editing tools such as AI Erase and AI Magic Move.
Software
The phone ships with OriginOS 7, which reports say is based on Android 17. Vivo lists six years of security updates.

Price and availability
In India, the V80 is priced at Rs 62,999 (8GB/128GB), Rs 69,999 (8GB/256GB) and Rs 79,999 (8GB/512GB). Sales there began on October 13.
Vivo says the global rollout will be gradual across India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other regions. Pakistan: Vivo has not announced a Pakistan launch or price for the V80.
Our take
The V80 is an evolution, not a reinvention. If you already own a V70, the 144Hz screen and the bigger battery are the main reasons to upgrade, and the slower memory is a small step back. For buyers coming from older phones, the 3x telephoto, IP69 rating and 7,200mAh battery make it a strong all-rounder.
